Top 10 Rock Albums

I posted this before but something went wrong with the code and it looked like shit so I’ll try it again. Here’s my Top 10 Rock albums. I know I’ll catch some grief for this, but here goes anyways. Feel free to drop me a line with your Top 10!
#10 ~ Jethro Tull – Aqualung

Aqualung

Aqualung

Tull sold over 7 million copies of “Aqualung”, making it their best seller. “Cross Eyed Mary” and “Locomotive Breath” are pure rock, while “Mother Goose” and “Wond’ring Aloud” show the groups softer side. Listen to the lyrics in this, they are awesome and Martin Barre’s guitar work is outstanding. Listen to the whole album and tell me Jethro Tull can’t jam!

#9 ~ Aerosmith – Featuring “Dream On”

Aerosmith

Aerosmith

Aerosmith – The highly successful debut album which started a career that would make Aerosmith the best selling American rock band of all time, selling 150 million albums. Featuring the hits “Dream On”, “Mama Kin” and “Make It. What makes this debut album so good is that the non hits such as “Write Me”, “Somebody”, “Walk The Dog” and “One Way Street” are just as good. This one is just push play and let it rock out no need to skip any bad songs because there are none!

#8 ~ Led Zeppelin – Led Zeppelin II

Led Zeppelin II

Led Zeppelin II

Led Zeppelin II- opening with the rock classic “Whole Lotta Love” to the closing song “Bring It On Home”, this one does bring it home. A must for any heavy rock classic fan “Whole Lotta Love”, “Ramble On”, “Living Loving Maid”, “Heartbreaker, “What Is And What Should Never Be”, this is just plainly a great rock n roll album!

#7 ~ Pink Floyd – Dark Side Of The Moon

Dark Side Of The Moon

Dark Side Of The Moon

The unique sounds and lyrics of Pink Floyd are not more evident that in this timeless album. A world record 741 weeks on the Billboard Top 100. This album still has that great sound in the 21′st century as it did on its release in 1973. Having sold 50 millions copies, it is one of the greatest selling albums of all time. Classics such as “Time”, “Money”, “Breath”, “The Great Gig In The Sky” and “Brain Damage”. This is truly a unique album from a very unique band.

#6 ~ Jimmy Hendrix – Are You Experienced

Are You Experienced

Are You Experienced

The world was introduced to the Jimi Hendrix Experience when the group formed in 1966, and what an experience it was. In 2005 “Are You Experienced” was selected for permanent preservation in the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress in the United States. And for good reason, it was voted 15th in Rolling Stone Magazines “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. With classics “Purple Haze”, “Foxy Lady”, “I Don’t Live Today, “The Wind Cries Mary” and “Hey Joe” to great lesser know songs such as “Manic Depression”, “Fire” and “Third Stone From The Sun” this is a great classic album. If you love Jimi Hendrix, which most classic rock fans do, this is, in my opinion his best work… he is the greatest guitarist of all time!

#5 ~ U2 – The Joshua Tree

The Joshua Tree

The Joshua Tree

This album turned U2 from stars into superstars. They went from playing in arenas to huge stadium crowds. It sold over 25 million copies and won them a Grammy. It features rock classics “With Or Without You”, “Where The Streets Have No Names” and “Bullet The Blue Sky”. Bono’s voice is at its best here as is the bands passionate lyrics. If you don’t have this in your collection get it. They’ll be listening to this one a hundred years from now.

#4 ~ The Rolling Stones – Some Girls

Some Girls

Some Girls

Released in 1978, “Some Girls” is The Rolling Stones best selling studio album, however, it immediately ran into trouble when Lucille Ball, Farrah Fawcett and the estate of Marilyn Monroe threatened legal action for their appearance on the original cover. It hit #1 on the Billboard Top 100 as did the opening song, “Miss You”. With the classic rock ballad “Beast Of Burden”, the raved up “Shattered” and the country style “Girl With Far Away Eyes” the Stones cover all the bases in this great LP and if you’re not a Stones fan yet, get this one and you will be! The Stones re-released “Some Girls” in 2011 with 11 unreleased songs making this classic favorite even better today.

#3 ~ U2 – Achtung Baby

Achtung Baby

Achtung Baby

U2 sold over 18 million copies of this one. They also changed their style into a more modern rock sound. The hits “One”, “The Fly” and “Mysterious Ways”, are just a few in this awesome rock album. They kicked off the Zoo TV tour, which was one of the best tours ever ( I saw it more than once ). The band almost broke up during the making of this, but the end result is a clear winner in my book.

#2 ~ Led Zeppelin – Led Zeppelin IV

Led Zeppelin IV

Led Zeppelin IV

The untitled album with many names, “Led Zeppelin IV”, “The Runes, “The Hermit” or most widely know as “ZoSo”, is the third largest selling album in the US ever. A master piece work featuring “Black Dog”, “Going To California” and “Stairway To Heaven”. Every classic rock fan has heard every song from this album on the radio. Released in 1971 it still ranks as one of the greatest musical recordings ever. Long Live Zeppelin!!

And my choice for Best Rock Album is….

#1 ~ The Who – Who’s Next

Who's Next

Who’s Next

Is this your Top Album of all time? For me, “Who’s Next” has everything a classic rock album should have. The heavy hitting “Baba O’Reily” and “We Won’t Get Fooled Again” and the great ballads of “Behind Blue Eyes” and “Getting In Tune” to Pete Towsend’s “Going Mobile” this awesome recording hits all the right chords. Released in 1971 it still rocks to this day! They truly don’t make music like this these days. This is a must for every rock fans collection.

There you have it and like I said leave a note with your Top 10 and maybe convince me to see it your way.

Zeppelin 2 is without question the greatest fuckin’rock album OF ALL TIME…every now and then,I’ll make the aquaintance of someone who will blurt out something stupid like “I just don’t really see the appeal of Led Zeppelin”..and I really just wanna punch them in the face…I remember going to a hardcore show as a teenager and one of their “numbers” was entitled “I Hate Led Zeppelin”..to which at the end of the song and at just the right moment of silence,I fired back with a big “FUCK YOU”.. because to me, the quality of Zeppelin transcends an opinion…and Zeppelin 2 is just masterful…and it’s not just all about those monster riffs…it’s the overall package:the craft in the songwriting, the ability to tone it down..that’s what the knock-off Zeppelin bands never got…their music was largely acoustic…Anywho,I concur with most of the list…I just would have subtracted U2..lol…

I’ve been browsing online more than three hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It is pretty worthy enough for me. In my opinion, if all website owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the net will be much more useful than ever before.
